to study basic biochemistry

Course Objectives:
The objective of this course is to offer detailed knowledge about the history and diversity of
microorganisms; benefits of microorganisms and the various mechanisms of disease, cause,
transmission, detection, treatment and prevention.
Course Learning Outcomes:
Upon completion of this course, students will be able to
➢ learn in detail the adaptations of microorganisms that help them to invade the host cell,
how they evade the host immune system and colonise the host cell causing diseases.
➢ gain overall knowledge about the mechanisms of disease cause, transmission, detection,
treatment and prevention.
➢ develop the ability to relate to any existing or emerging infection as well as will learn
about drug resistance and its mechanisms.
➢ have the know-how to research and develop new tools in the field of microbial science.
